Understanding HubSpot's Seat-Based Pricing Model
As of March 5th 2024, HubSpot moved to a seat-based pricing model. This new HubSpot pricing is based on your number of core seats - users in your portal who can edit, update and interact with the system. This means that pricing is shifting to a pay-as-you-grow model, where businesses can start lower and add users as they scale up.
It works like this: you can give core seat access only to employees who need it, while still allowing other team members access to see data through view-only seats. Add on paid seats as your business grows and more users are needed. This allows you to control costs and access.
What is a HubSpot Seat?
You can think of "seats" as users within the system. These are your internal employees who will need to use features within HubSpot. There are two primary seat types in HubSpot.
-
Core Seat - Have access to all purchased Hubs and can use tools within them, have access to HubSpot's AI tools and have access to the CRM. Note that permissions within each Hub can still be tweaked. These are paid seats that count toward your seat total. This will be anyone who is going to actively use HubSpot and edit data.
-
View-Only Seats - Can view all purchased Hubs and reporting features, but can't interact with the system. These are free seats that don't count toward your seat total. This is a great option for employees who don't need to actively use the system, but may need to pull contact information, reporting or status updates.
Another big change for seats is that there are no seat minimums for Sales and Service Hub - meaning that you can have as little as one paid seat and still use the system.

Core CRM
HubSpot’s CRM is a convenient, easy-to-use central Hub that gets your team what they need, fast. HubSpot's CRM is a database of information for your business. This includes contact information, but also that contact’s activity: information that you have collected through forms and events and through every interaction point you have with a person.
HubSpot's core CRM is 100% free. It's also included by default with purchase of any of the Hubs below, at any level.
Content Hub: Website Builder
Content Hub is an all-in-one, AI-powered content marketing software that helps marketers create and manage content that fuels the entire customer journey. At the center of Content Hub is the HubSpot CMS - their website-builder.

Sales Hub: Lead Scoring and Forecasting Tools
HubSpot Sales Hub gives your sales team access to the tools within the platform that allow them to manage their actual sales outreach - be that through calls, emails, SMS or social media. But it also gives them the necessary information and insights into their prospects' behaviors to enable personalized conversations that convert prospects into customers.
In Sales Hub, the default included number of seats is one at all levels - with the option to add on additional paid seats.
| Sales Hub | Starting Price (Monthly)* | Automations | Email Sequences | Forecasting | Deal Pipelines |
| Starter (Priced per seat) | $9 per seat | Trigger tasks and email notifications when deals change stage | No | No | 2 |

HubSpot Service Hub is the Customer Support side of the HubSpot CRM. It is an all-in-one place to manage your full support structure, including onboarding, offboarding, account management, service and support requests and any other aspect of managing the customer relationship. Service Hub is designed to help your team deepen customer relationships, improve efficiency and make communication with your customers as seamless as possible.

Marketing Hub: Personalized and Automated Engagement
Marketing Hub is - like the name implies - the core suite of marketing tools within HubSpot. Tools like Emails, Social Media, SEO, CTAs, Campaigns, and Workflows are just some of the capabilities your team will have access to with Marketing Hub. This Hub is one of the most robust within the HubSpot platform, as it grew from its original purpose in marketing automation to the in-depth CRM that provides functionality for your entire organization that it is today.
Marketing Hub's pricing is different from other Hubs as it includes marketing contacts. Marketing contacts are those you are actively marketing or selling to - you can have additional non-marketing contacts in your CRM.

Data Hub: Advanced Data Cleanliness
Data Hub is a set of tools and additional functionality for other Hubs designed to clean, format, manipulate and generally better use and understand the data in your CRM. You can use Data Hub to potentially fill gaps in other systems - perhaps you’re lacking in a way to validate email addresses, concatenate your address fields into a single property for direct mailers or distribute new leads to various members of your organization based on territory.
