Integrating Membership Portals via HubSpot

Minnesota Precision Manufacturing Association

Minnesota Precision Manufacturing Association (MPMA) is the leading voice for manufacturers across the state. They focus on connecting manufacturers, policymakers, educators, and job seekers while strengthening the industry through advocacy, education, and connection. With so many different audiences, it’s easy for operations to become tangled.

Their systems weren’t able to keep up with their impact. While their previous tech stack handled member data, event tracking, and revenue, it did so in silos. Nothing ever connected to their website, CRM, or marketing systems, so reporting was a manual headache. MPMA’s staff couldn’t easily show the Board of Directors where revenue came from or how different initiatives worked together because information was coming from every direction.

To modernize operations and better serve members, MPMA turned to BizzyWeb.

The Challenge

MPMA’s legacy system had hit its limits. Their website, CRM, and membership software all lived in separate worlds. This created data silos and manual work that slowed down reporting and made it difficult to act on insights.

This disjointed setup created serious roadblocks, including:

  • Less visibility for leadership into key metrics (memberships, sponsorships, advertising)
  • Difficulty tracking statistics and reporting to maintain grants
  • No easy way for members to update information or manage their account status
  • Moving data manually between systems, causing a significant slowdown on reporting

MPMA needed a single, connected environment to simplify internal operations and create a better member experience.

Client Priorities

  • Replace outdated, disconnected systems with an integrated environment
  • Modernize the website and membership experience

  • Automate manual processes and revenue tracking

  • Gain clear, board-ready reporting and insights

  • Make it easy for members to self-serve

The Plan

The BizzyWeb team implemented HubSpot Sales and Marketing Pro Onboarding and migrated MPMA’s existing website into HubSpot’s Content Hub. This established one central platform where marketing, membership, and reporting could finally work together. A 3-step plan was put into action.

  1. Connecting Two Portals in One CRM

BizzyWeb built two membership portals within HubSpot to accommodate MPMA’s unique needs — a technically advanced solution rarely done at this scale due to difficult implementation. These portals addressed both MPMA members and the manufacturing workforce:

  • MPMA Member Portal – Designed for existing members to log in, update company information, access industry resources, and connect with other members.
  • Minnesota Manufactured Portal – A state-funded initiative within MPMA specifically supporting workforce development. This portal connects students, job seekers, and employers with education and career opportunities.

Each portal was built to serve unique audiences and was also fully integrated within HubSpot — meaning all interactions, forms, and activities flowed into one unified CRM.

  1. Streamlining Data and Reporting

BizzyWeb created custom HubSpot architecture and reporting pipelines to track revenue from memberships, sponsorships, advertising, and other sources. Automated workflows now link these data points together, giving MPMA leadership a full view of how each program contributes to overall revenue and engagement.

  1. Automating the Workload

Instead of manually exporting or reconciling data, HubSpot now does the heavy lifting. Staff can instantly see who’s active, who’s renewed, and what opportunities are generating value. Members get a personalized experience based on their engagement and interests.

The Results

MPMA’s newly connected HubSpot ecosystem turned what used to be a tangled patchwork of disconnected tools into a single streamlined hub. The easy-to-use system resulted in:

  • Centralized Reporting: Leadership can now easily view revenue by source and measure performance across programs
  • Empowered Members: Self-service portals give members control to update data, access resources, and stay engaged
  • Connected Data: Information flows seamlessly between internal teams, membership records, and the Minnesota Manufactured initiative
  • Operational Efficiency: Manual exports and double data entry are gone — replaced by automation and insight

By bringing everything into HubSpot, MPMA now has a single, connected system that supports both its internal operations and member experience. What once took hours of manual tracking now happens automatically — freeing their team to focus on what matters most: strengthening Minnesota’s manufacturing industry.
